Association of Small Towns in France has initiated the formal establishment of the Confederation Small Towns and Municipalities of the European Union on February 15 last. It brings together eight associations of elected members from different countries (including France), but is intended to be extended to the whole Union.
The Confederation of Small Cities and Municipalities of the European Union will speak with local community institutions, particularly in the field of cohesion policy, internal market and public services, and policies environmental and energy.
In a manifesto published during the creation of the Confederation, it declares its intention to represent the citizens especially in small towns, bringing them closer to the EU and contribute to European integration through the exchange of information and sustainable good practice among towns of the Union.
